ABOUT THE TEXAS WATER ASSOCIATION

The Texas Water Association is a nonprofit policy association focusing on water supply and management. From drought to flood, the Texas Water Association works with its members to address the state’s greatest water needs. Created in 1944 as the "Texas Water Conservation Association" when the term conservation was synonymous with water supply, the Texas Water Association has been dedicated to the state's water resources for 80 years.

Our Members

Texas Water Association members provide water and wastewater services to a vast majority of the state and include river authorities, cities, regional and local water districts, drainage and flood districts, irrigation districts, groundwater conservation districts, water users and other stakeholders, and those who support the Texas water industry.

Leadership

Our board of directors includes seven members each from nine different water use classifications: drainage districts, general & environmental, groundwater, industry, irrigation, municipalities, navigation & flood control, river authorities, and utility districts.

Annual Report

Each spring, Texas Water Association staff compiles information on membership, events, and policy work throughout the previous year. Read the 2024 Annual Report.

Strategic Plan

Texas Water Association's Strategic Plan includes goals and strategies to guide the Association's long-term success. Association staff works with the Executive Committee to update the Association's Strategic Plan every five years to assess and refine the plan as needed. The Five-Year Strategic Plan for 2025-2029 is available here.

The association is also affiliated with the National Waterways Conference and the National Water Supply Alliance. These affiliations help us engage in water policy discussions at the federal level.
